Planning your Expo Visit

Where is the Expo located?

Austin Convention Center, downtown Austin, Texas. Directions and parking information can be found on the convention center web site here.

What are the hours of the Expo?

  • Saturday, October 23, 10:00am to 5:30pm.
  • Sunday, October 24, 10:00am to 5:30pm.

Is the Expo free of charge?

YES!

How long should we plan for the Expo?

You should plan 2 or so hours to ensure that your students have time to stop at most of the 70+ booths.

So, what will I do at the Expo?

As you walk among the booths, you'll find hands-on activities, experiments, and engineers and scientists to talk to. Most hands-on activities will take about 12 minutes to complete. This is not show and tell... it's show and do!

What kind of exhibits will there be?

There will be all kinds of exhibits, from TAME’s TrailBlazer bus to the Austin planetarium to robots to checking out Dr. Kold. The Expo is a dynamic, hands-on, interactive, fun and entertaining set of activities, displays and demonstrations.

How will I find my way around?

When you arrive at the Expo, you will receive a detailed map of the Expo booths, including a lecture schedule and a schedule of stage acts. The Austin Science and Engineering Festival will also have Volunteers who can help guide you to a certain booth or an Information Booth.

How will I be able to find a particular organization or exhibit?

When you get to the Expo, you will receive both a map, and a list of the exhibits with booth numbers. And, the Austin Science and Engineering Festival will have Volunteers who can help guide you to a certain booth or an Information Booth.

What ages is this event geared toward? Will there be stuff for young children?

With over 70 fun, interactive activities, there is more than enough variety of topics and activities to excite attendees from the age of 3 to 93, from science, engineering and technology professionals to just the curious.

Is the Expo only for kids?

No! There are exhibits for all ages and STEM knowledge, from the science, engineering and technology professional to just the curious.

What should I bring?

Where can we buy food or eat?

Inside the Austin Convention Center, You will find the following:

  • Starbucks who also serves salads and
  • Aramark, for the more hearty eaters, you can purchase barbecue and sandwiches
